Palmetto Angler is also having a monthly Crappie Tournament.  The fee for this is $2.00 with a 100% payback also.  These tournaments will be a lot of fun for a small investment and should make fishing a lot more exciting this summer.  If you have any questions about the tournaments don’t hesitate to call or come by Palmetto Angler and I will be more than happy to answer them.
June 2006 Fishing Report

Warmer water temperatures in May caused the Stripers and Hybrids to feed more actively.  There were some quality Stripers caught in May.  Most of these big fish that were caught, were caught in the Georgia Little River section of Clark’s Hill.  There were also some very good Stripers landed above the 378 bridge toward the Russell Dam.  The mouths of the creeks on the South Carolina side, above Hickory Knob produced a lot of good fish, as well as Murray Creek and Fishing Creek on the Georgia side.  These fish were caught either free-lining live Herring early in the day or late in the evening.  Later in the day, most fish were caught using cut bait off the points of the main river.
The fishing in June will be most productive in the deeper water of the main channels.  The best techniques to use at this time are fishing down rods with live Herring or fishing cut bait.  Trolling artificial lures will also be effective as long as they are deep running.
